Although Christmas Eve is technically just an acknowledgement of the evening prior to the big day, it is commonly recognized as a holiday. On my calendar hanging before me, the 24th is highlighted in the *special* holiday color and states "Christmas Eve" on that day denoting a "Holiday" status. In certain carrolling circles, one might even hear of the 12 days of Christmas, which would indicate that we're getting gypped out of another week and a half of days off of work. Although since no one really knows which 12 they are (Bob & Doug McKenzie tried, but still fell short), it's probably safe to say that the guy who made up the 12 days was hopped up on goof balls at the time.

As far as "Season's Greetings", that may be in reference to nutmeg, paprika, thyme, and other pumpkin pie spices since that particular dessert seems to only exist this time of year.
