maybe not for a student model, but professional violinists have been known to pay upwards of a million dollars for theirs. A violin bow alone can cost $5000 for a cheap one. . . $20,000 to $30,000 for a professional one. I prefer brass. A Besson BE765 euphonium (translation, a really good professional-grade horn (a euphonium is about half the size of a tuba)) is around $3,000. Much more economical ;)

you can buy a 30 cent rubber stopper for your endpin that does just as well. . replace once every 4 months or so. The donut, BTW, costs about a dollar. I prefer the chair strap, which is about $5.00. One end sits under the leg of your chair, the other end holds the endpin.
