Our company (Agency.com -- ACOM on NASDAQ) is going public today, shares are priced higher than expected -- the brokers are calling all the employees to let them know how much the stock is and how much we are entitled to buy. We go public in about 22 minutes and everyone is so excited! Everyone is running around trying to find a real-time stock ticker online...

The company I work for used to be a privately-held company, but is now a publicly-traded company (ACOM on NASDAQ). We just went public today and employees could buy stock at the Initial Public Offering (IPO) price before the stock gets traded. We started at $26 per share, jumped to $98, and wound up flucuating between $75 and $82 before closing at $76. In four short hours, I suddenly had enough money to buy a new car.
