For those of you who advised me on my dilemma whether or not to invite the SHP to the dance, my problem has been solved. Turns out the dance is the 23rd, not the 17th, and since he's leaving for Australia on the 22nd, he wouldn't be able to come anyway. Also, I found out when the dance was after I had already promised a friend I would babysit with her that night, so I don't have to worry about inviting someone else, either.
