As per Homer Simpson's inspired yearbook
quotation, "I can't believe I ate the whole
thing!"

I plopped down last night and read Dual of the
Ages in one sitting. I loved it, and I'm still
trying to figure out exactly WHY.

Part of it, of course, is the presence of so
many allusions to The Princess Bride and other
cultural monuments burned into my psyche. Part
of it is the sheer creativity and fun that was
poured into the episodes by Sam and Dave.

Part of it, too, is the way it reminds me
somewhat of my childhood role-playing days, when
everyone I knew had their own super-character
and we were all trying to outdo everyone else's
("Ha! I hit you with my plus-eighteen-vorpal-
blade!" "Uh-uh; I used my Ring of Etherealness
at the last second!"). Being juvenile was so
much fun. --sigh--

Rinkworks is one of my favorite sites to read
at work, and I've been with y'all for awhile now,
even though I haven't posted to the forum before.

One more thing (I can't believe I'm actually
pointing this out): on the "loose change in the
sofa" page in Slapdash City, the date column
reads '97 as the year all the way down, when it
should start reading '98 partway through. There.
Final proof that I have GOT to get a life. :)

Best Regards,
Issachar
