Or maybe it's the Russian thing? Battleship Potempkin and Solaris are other prime contenders for the title of world's most interminable movie. Then again, the former and I think the latter featured large ammounts of ice. As did, of course, the wearisome 'Ice Station Zebra' (and Russians too).
