It was a caption under a photo of what's-her-name who has been cast as Arwen, which described the character as "the young elven warrior and princess who loves Aragorn." > NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! She's NOT a warrior!!!! She's not even YOUNG!! She's an ELF, for goodness sakes!! Eowyn is the warrior maiden! They can't make Arwen one! What are they going to do, have Arwen and Eowyn mud wrestle in chainmail bikinis for Aragorn's hand?! It's **WRONG!!!!!!**
YES!! I couldn't agree more, Brunnen-G. Having Arwen be a warrior completely goes against everything Tolkien meant her character to be. Arwen is supposed to be graceful, beautiful, and wise. Aragorn's love for her is symbolic of his weariness of being a ranger and his longing for peace. If she is transformed into Xenarwen then what does that say about Aragorn? That he likes cute, fiesty, leather clad warrior princesses? Ugh.
Not only that, but having Arwen go into battle will completely ruin the impact of Eowyn's ride with the Rohirrim. How will people possibly understand Eowyn's bravery, strength(and moreover, the underlying desperation and hopelessness in the act) if they just saw Arwen waltz onto the field and slay a dozen orcs without even messing her hair up?
