FQ 2 River Chase

I'm kind of stuck here... I think I know what I need to do, but I can't do it. Someone in the forums before seemed to have a similar problem when he played it on the PC. So, When I'm south of the bridge, I can't go North, onto the bridge, because they then get away. But apparently I'm supposed to do something with the troll that is on the bridge? I need help.
