OK, Here's my inventory:

Feather
Cord
Spittoon

Your Gun
Altar Cloth
Key
Map

Matches
Hat Pin
Playing Cards
Cabbage

I have dealt with the goat and have headed back to Linville from the map the old lady gave me. I can't seem to get to the desert. I am going around in circles, I am obviously missing something, but I have retraced my steps several times. A nudge, please.
