Unfortunately, the full game will not recognize progress made in the preview. It's not necessarily the case that the portion of the game covered by the preview is as it will be in the final version anyway, although dramatic changes are unlikely. The full game is still at least a couple of years off, though, and maybe quite a bit more, so many people wouldn't want to start the full game where they left off years previously anyway.

If you don't care to invest a lot of time in the preview for this reason, though, that's understandable. I still think it's worth spending 10 or 15 minutes, just to see what rather amazing things Andrew has done with the AGL engine. But again, your call.

Either way, there will be a new complete game on the AGL site very soon.
