The version I learned aims for brevity over completeness. It isn't informative about February's length, only its status as an exception:
Thirty days hath September, April, June, and November. After February's done The other months have thirty-one.
On a different note, I really, really wish we had THIRTEEN months (to heck with the unlucky number nonsense), of 28 days each. (Except for the last month, which would have one extra day most years, or two extra days on leap years.) That way we'd always know exactly what day of the week any given day of the month would fall on, because it would be the same in each month.
I'm also annoyed that SEPTember - DECember are the 9th through 12th months, in disagreement with their prefixes, which should mark them as the 7th through 10th months. (As I think they originally were on the calendar from which we adopted them.)
