This was my mom's version, which scans and almost rhymes in couplets, if you allow for "one" and "alone."

Thirty days hath September,
April, June, and November.
All the rest have thirty-one,
Except the second month alone,
To which we twenty-eight assign
Till leap year gives it twenty-nine.
