Fantasy quest 1, stuck. Help?

Okay, my inventory is:
Sack, rope, sword, hammer, club, branch, silver coin, diamond, bow, arrow, carrot, silver key, shovel.

I'm stuck, I can't cross the bridge. I cannot do anything else besides wander around aimlessly and have failed attempts at whatever I try to do! can someone point me in the right direction?
