Top 6 Movies Where You Were Glad To Have Watched The End Credits posted by Nyperold on Thursday, November 8, 2007, at 03:23:43:
I've gotten into the habit in recent years of watching the end credits of most movies to completion, whether it be in the theater or on the small screen at home.
Still, it wasn't easy for me to think of six end credits sequences that really stood out for some reason. Took me several hours to think of six, so now that I have them I'm not going to strain my brain and try to think of more; I'll just go with these:
6. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan - three of my choices I made simply because I loved the music in the end credits, and this is one of them. As a youngster, before I was old enough to start buying my own music, I remember hooking a tape recorder up to the TV and taping the audio from these end credits just so I could listen to the music without having to play the movie. In fact, I would say that outside of Star Wars, this movie was the first soundtrack that I really loved.
5. Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World - maybe this movie only made my list because I just finished watching it last night. This is another one that made my list for its music. I just loved the soundtrack for this film. A perfect blend of classical music and new orchestral themes, and the best of it is repeated in the end credits.
4. The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy - If you didn't watch the end credits for these films, you missed part of the movie! Well, sort of. Each one has an "easter egg" scene at the end to reward those moviegoers who sat through the credits (or used their fast forward button).
3. The Fountain - The third movie on this list that I selected because of the music, but also the way the credits are done is a tasteful and beautiful departure from the traditional endless scrolling list. The credits go perfectly with the haunting piano solo "Together We Will Live Forever" by Clint Mansell. I rewatched these credits just so I could listen to the song again.
2. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King - departing from the traditional scroll that the first two movies in the trilogy employed, these wickedly long credits are made more enjoyable by showing us excellently drawn portraits of the major characters and scenery of the story by Alan Lee.
1. Almost Every Pixar Movie to Date - those dudes at Pixar have a knack for making entertaining end credits sequences. There are of course, the outtakes created for Bug's Life and Toy Story 2, but my personal favorite is the end credits to Finding Nemo. Especially the part when Mike Wazowski swims across the screen in his snorkeling gear. But the "Cars" versions of all their previous movies was pretty good too, especially having John Ratzenberger critiquing his own previous performances.
