What the game doesn't explain is why it's not too hot for you to carry around. Heh heh.

Yes. The goblin fight has an extra requirement to it -- you can't get anywhere with him unless you have an additional item of equipment. But this will present itself in due course.

My main reason for posting here is to talk about the owner of the lance. If you drew a map or flowchart that shows you've been everywhere and there's nobody that wants a lance, then you have an error in it somewhere. He's outside, hanging out in an area that you can get to in about three or four hops roughly east of where you used the board.
