Living the dream

As a kid, I dreamed of being a writer. I wanted to write short stories, novels, magazine articles and news. For a while, I even wrote for a daily newspaper, but I became a teacher and journalism landed on the back burner.
But then came the internet. After I retired, I realized that I no longer needed to submit stories to an editor and wait for the rejection slip. On the internet, you don't make a lot of money writing, but you can publish, publish, publish.
Sites like RinkWorks gave me a start. (I have been on RinkWorks for a loooong time.) Then I discovered YourHub and Flickr. I publish stories with photos on these sites. I also keep blogs.
One of my stories* on YourHub got over 100 hits in three days. An older story is close to 1000 hits.
Some time ago, I wrote a story about an old mill that was being restored and the organization that was doing the restoration sent me a tee shirt and a print of the mill. I don't get paid, but there are compensations.
The link below takes you to my stuff on yourhub. Caution, there is some mindless dirvel mixed in with the good stuff. Howard
*The story is about Dollywood, complete with pictures. Oldtimers on RinkWorks will remember that I really like Dollywood.
