Your distraction can be found in one of the library wings, and you can cause it in such a way that he can't directly LINK you to it.
You know that magic trick where a magician has a bunch of breakable or precariously STACKED items on a table with a tablecloth under it, grabs one END of the tablecloth and pulls the tablecloth away without disturbing a thing on the table?
