*facepalm* Sorry, should have seen the soot. And I'm trying not to give spoilers so my replies don't get deleted.

Tried talking to the other occupant of the room you got all sooty in? Showing interest in her work? She's not immune to bribery, either, and it's safe to say she's not below the drinking age.
