I had an idea about throwing the moss off the edge of the drop or down the holes to break my fall so I could jump down below, but I've dumped armloads of it down there and it still doesn't work; when I try to jump off the edge I die. I've used the torch to drive away bats with the smoke but can't get anywhere with that either.

If you lay down enough of it in the right place (obviously not where you plan to jump down), that moss is pretty flammable.

I guess this is where I have to work with the website team, but only thing I can think of to do is to talk to them about the various subjects offered, which doesn't do anything.

Two words: Last-minute babysitting. :)

The game recap, if I remember correctly, mentions some scroll with the right directional code that Anand had and promptly lost in-game. Since there is no power on earth that will convince the man to restart the game for you, you'll have to go straight to the source to find out what the code is. Fortunately, she goes to St. Mary's.

There should be an option to check out info about the game, specifically someone who created it - her initials are S.P. Now, she has a file in a certain office in that building, but to read it you need to smoke the staff out of the New Building. How? Completely ruin the website team's day.

I don't know what you've got in your "real life" inventory, but you need to focus on the website team. You need to get them an idea that will hook in new members, actually get interest from a new member, then totally screw with their day. (Do the words "Trojan horse" ring a bell?)

The chess fanatics have something that will help. And if the team is still looking for good ideas to bring in new members, Mrs. Pinto does have exactly ONE good piece of advice amidst her blathering.
