GOA still need help

I went through the portal as suggested to talk to the Sage, and the wraith won't let me past no matter what combination of moves I use. Am I missing something needed to get past?
Reread the introduction.
About this game.
Go north.
Go east.
Go south.
Feint to the left with the guard's sword.
Feint to the right with the guard's sword.
Lunge from the left with the guard's sword.
Lunge from the right with the guard's sword.
Duck and roll under the wraith.
Talk to the wraith.
Chop the wraith in half with your hands.
Use the rope against the wraith.
