Getting upstairs is something achieved after the poker game, so don't worry about it.
You can get a buy-in with some help from a big guy in Lucky Strike whose wagon you've raided... the way to his heart is his stomach.
Of course, he's not going to be hungry while he's passed out like that. Go to Lynnville and try some headwear - aside from the embarrassment factor, you can get something to tickle his fancy.
