Very many Star Trek novels fail this one. Never mind that it's 300 years in the future, and we're supposed to still be measuring lengths with approximations of body parts' lengths instead of a universal, simple, logical, expandable system that can measure sub-atomic distances just as well as intergalactic ones, but sometimes the books can't even make up their mind what system to use.
