Played this game a while back and never finished it. I started over and I can't remember a thing. I have a few notes and things are different the second time around. What am I doing different?

I have visited the two towns several times. I made a pretty good stew for the guy in the wagon and he still will not wake up. I encountered the Miwoks. Got away with silver dollar and I don't know what happen to the knife. I can't remember where I got the ball from. I played the piano and got $14.00. Can't do anything in Lynville and can't seem to do anything in Saloon at Lucky Strike. What am I missing? I could use a clue or two. My notes are not helping at all. I don't have enough money to get a room in the boarding house or to play poker. Help!!!!
