Hmmmm, yes, I could get tires a lot cheaper. But then I would have cheap tires. Cheap tires are not as reliable as the over-priced kind. Most of my driving is on the interstate. Often, I am pulling a trailer at 70 mph. So top-of-the line tires make more sense for me.
One of the most exciting moments in my life was when my truck was still riding on the original cheap tires. A rear tire blew out at 73 mph (on cruise, so I know the exact speed). I was in the left lane of three southbound lanes with a trailer truck beside me. The force of the exploding tire, seemed to lift the rear wheels off the ground. The trucker saw what was happening and locked up all 18 wheels. There I was in a wildly bouncing truck with an out-of-control tractor-trailer behind me. I stayed off the brakes until I got my truck settled down. By then the trucker was signaling me to cross in front of him to the right, and since he was dropping back, I did so. It was enough excitement to last me a while, and the next week I got four new top-of-the line tires. Howard
> It sounds like you need to find another store. You paid about double what I would pay for a full set of tires. Or better yet, since you drive the truck so little, find a good store that sells used tires.
