What's Next?

I just threw the boulder of doom at the gate of dispair. I tried going back to darius & jackie but nothing happened. Here is my inventory

559 gold coins
10 red gemstones
life preserver
guards sword
stone of strngthening
food rations
bucket
rope
wire clippers
portrait
crate

There should be some sort of hint as to what order you should do things in these games and we wouldn't need so much help.
