major issues with the giraffe in FQ2

inventory:
sack
silver key
crown of destiny
float ring
sap tap
bucket of sap
bottle opener
cross
coconut
pliers
iron support
green potion
sword
rusty key
goo

i cannot get past the giraffe and i know how to navigate the cave i am just not sure what to do i HAVE tried everything one time i poured sap on his nose and that did not work to kill him at this point spoilers are welcome i am just realllllyyy frustrated thanks so much in advance
