FQ - 4th Coin

I'm looking for the 4th gold coin, which I think I need from the garden. I've read in previous posts that it's in the north side. Here's where I am:

"You are on the northern border of the gardens. Several yards north, there is a dense forest that glows eerily."

Options:
Look at the map.
Go east.
Go south.
Go west.
Try to work your way through to the forest.
Scan the horizon.

Inventory:
Sack
Silver Key
Scroll
Arrow
Ticket
Rope
Gold Key
Hammer
Fishing Pole
Jeweled Dagger
Hook
Sword
Nails
Magic Stone
Sunstone
Branch
Shovel
Bow
Club

I've tried everything, but still can't find it--or do I even need it? I'd also welcome suggestions on what to do next.
