1) Don't bother with chalk throwing. Since you already improved your aim enough to snag the nitrochalk for Mrs. D, there's no point in practicing anymore.

2) The key: Look at the Fire Map. What is it used to decode? He who controls the power has the power.

3) If you read through the books in the library, you will note that methanoic acid comes from... bugs! Now the biology lab is oddly deficient of those specimens, but there's a source of living insects nearby that you can trap. You'll have to get *experimental* to distill the acid once you trap them, though.
