I was quoting JFK. The story goes that he meant to identify himself with the people of Deutschland(sp?) by calling himself a Berliner. But what he or his translator forgot was that articles are not used before nationalities, and he ended up calling himself a jelly doughnut.

Here's another:
Someone else(not JFK) went into a German deli wanting a hot dog, so he asked for a "heisser hund". You can imagine what the owner thought.
