ToA- Alright I started a fire and am still locked out

Okay, I started a fire, it was put out, and I missed my chance of getting into the school. Was that supposed to happen? I am refilling on rocks just in case. I have angered the security guard from the library..and I seem to be stuck in the rain.
I know its really early in the game lol
