Early Years - Time Machine

Sharp Knife
Collection of Diamonds
Wolf-Shaped Idol
Round, Crumbly Stone

I can't get the pick out of the pit. I saw the hint about the cave, but I've tried everything there and I'm getting nowhere - can anyone help?
