I'm curious. (I'm also old, at a loose end, and living in Christchurch, New Zealand.)

All my life I've heard variations on the concept "Keep digging that huge hole and you'll end up in China!" The movie "The China Syndrome" reinforced this idea in the late 70s (the same year as the Three Mile Island incident, I think.)

My point (at last!) is: "China at the other end of a hole through the Earth" is as inaccurate for me in New Zealand as it is for the majority of RinkWorks Regulars, but I (and many cartoonists) still accept the concept (China *is* at the other end of a hole through the Earth) without question.

Anyone else? Have you heard someone say, "blah blah ...end up in China," and understood the concept without considering the geography?
