I first did it about 3 or 4 years ago (depending on whether you count this year) and managed to win. Then I didn't win anymore because I had way too much homework. That and journalism made it hard to get back into the writing flow. You know what's really crazy?
I'm doing it again this year. And I'm a senior in high school who still needs to get her stuff together for college applications. Then there's AP Lit, AP Gov, SATs, journalism, debate, and a whole lot of other stuff that keeps on piling up. So! I only have about 2000 words, and I'm on the third day. Fun.
Admittedly, though, I guess I could include my AP Lit essay that I had to write on Thursday/Friday (yay for finishing papers at 7 a.m.) because that took out time from NaNo. Heh.
