That seems logical. Maybe the birds were the music.
The visual effects in that film look crude these days, but they didn't fool me even when the film was new. It was often just pictures of birds overlaid on pictures of actors.
In "Psycho" Hitch admitted that the blood running down the bathtub drain was really just chocolate syrup. You can get away with stuff like that in black and white.
I wonder sometimes how Hitchcock's genius would have worked with modern computer technology. Howard
