Tried to give the bunny a snack? There is merit in doing so. He may just sit there, but that's because you have no need of his help at the moment.
Once the bunny has a reason to pay you back for that favor, he will come to your aid - but only when you are in immediate need of backup. And you've also got to buy him a little time to get there to keep you from being a snack yourself.
