You don't need to get the nerds there til Sunday, so don't stress
over that just yet.

In order to even GET to Sunday, however, you're going to need
to meet your professors and do a series of tasks for them.

Start with Prof. Major's task; her reward will advance the plot and
eventually get you to Sunday, give you direction, and help you
(painfully) locate a new hiding place for your buddies. (And it will
indirectly help with the junkyard problem later on, if you're
observant.)
