  I personally am more partial to couch, but if I were shopping for one, I would probably say I was shopping for a sofa.  The comment about the sofa being in the pristine room and the couch being a place to flop and watch TV seems kind of right to me, too.  I also refer to it as a chesterfield on occasion.

  I am a Pop infidel, and I am trying to convert, even though it makes me sound even weirder to some of my friends.  (I convert because I hate words with multiple meanings, and "pop" already has enough meanings, and "soda" only has other meanings around here if you prefix it with "baking".)
