  That is pretty cool.  Reading the comments to that entry this morning, I notice that one says that the site went down due to traffic (never heard of that happening before -- could it really have happened?) and others suggest that our beloved Dialectizer is based off of Google's translator (rubbish, as I'm sure the Dialectizer pre-dates Google's translator by several years, and might even pre-date Google) and is similar to some other website (again, I suspect that it is the other way around).
  This got me to thinking, though, and now I have a question for our resident finders-of-things:  Is Sam's Dialectizer the first such amusement to ever appear on the web?  Can this be proven with any reasonable certainty?  At the very least, can it be proven to pre-date Google's translator?  Is it possible that Google's translator is based on the Dialectizer?
