It reminded me of the time I stayed up all night arguing about whether those extinct giant ground sloths are cooler than pandas. And the time Sam and Dave had that argument about whether a walrus was cooler than a nuclear explosion. I'd *like* to say these are both good examples of open-minded, lateral-thinking debates which stimulate the intellect and broaden one's mental horizons, but objectively I think it's more likely due to being weird. And no, I don't know how either topic of debate got started.
