> Grish, if you like really strong instrumental, full orchestral music, two things that I've been listening to a lot lately are the soundtrack to Myst 3: Exile and the soundtrack to the anime series The Vision of Escaflowne. The first is pretty innovative (IMHO) and uses a lot of different (often obscure) instruments in a lot of COOL ways, and the second is more traditional but still extremely cool. (One song goes into *bagpipes* halfway through. It rules.)
You are the second or third person to tell me I should get the soundtrack to Myst 3. Where does one find it? I buy most of my music CDs through BMG music club, but they don't carry game soundtracks that I know of. Would a music store in the mall, such as Sam Goody or Record Town carry it? Or would I have to buy it on-line from someplace like Amazon or CDNow? Or do I just have to order it directly from Cyan? Is there any place where I could try it before I buy it?
I bet it is pretty nice music. I've only played the original Myst, but I did enjoy the short music clips contained in that game enough to attempt to compose variations on them on my little Yamaha keyboard years ago. I wish that keyboard still worked.
