I hate to say this but I actually liked the film.
I went in, knowing about the plot, as if it wasn't readily predictable after the first five minutes (like the hangar doors weren't some kind of blatant clue or anything) and I enjoyed it.
The world's changed since Indy/Crusade, our perceptions of the world have changed too, so I was kind of relieved to see that the film moved with it; the story is set 19 years after the last one, and Harrison Ford is 19 years older, so it works.
The MacGuffin didn't have to have involved those it did; it could have been turned into something perhaps involving the Mayans, but despite that it still worked for me. I didn't like the closing scene much, seemed a bit too cheesy, but it felt like an Indy film to me. And of course left open for a sequel to the series without having to have Ford himself back for a fifth, but still Jonesy.
Spielberg said in an interview something about "the him of 19 years ago" needing to make it, and I guess it worked. Aside from some of the end shots, it didn't feel bogged down in CGI either, which helped.
Thumbs up from me and a couple of people I went to see it with...
