People leave the darnedest things. I remember seeing a guy drive off with a pair of shoes on top of the car. I once found a shaving kit complete with perscription medicines that allowed me to identify the owner. On the same corner where I found the shaving kit, I found a whole set of socket wrenches in a plastic case.

On doctor's orders, I walk a lot and I have found lots of tools, a whisk broom, and many, many coins. I spend the good coins but those that have been run over a zillion times are pretty battered, so I keep them in a jar. I have about a pint so far. People also throw away lots of batteries, mostly AA size. I have picked up enough wheel weights to make ballast for my lawn aeriator. About ten or twelve pounds, I would guess.

My daughter, the flight attendent, brings home lots of novels, many almost new, in-the-jacket, hardbacks.

Maybe I could get a job cleaning theaters. Sounds like a good job for a packrat.
