The 6th Day is an Arnold Schwarzenegger action film, which pretty much describes everything you need to know about it. It's set in the near future, where cloning humans is possible but illegal. The futuristic stuff is intriguing, but unfortunately the action never really shifts into high gear. It's not as compelling as The Terminator or True Lies; those movies worked not so much because of the action but because we identified with the characters and believed in them. Schwarzenegger plays two roles in this movie, and neither are quite real. A more realistic human drama that places the characters in the same hellish situation would have them traumatized. In this movie, they seem too unfazed. Granted, they almost have to be, because this is an action movie and not a realistic human drama, but that doesn't make it any easier to get involved in the story. Schwarzenegger himself is a large part of why this doesn't derail the movie completely. The questions don't go away, but Schwarzenegger's screen charisma keeps us content to go with the flow. His fans will likely enjoy it and find it a great improvement over 1999's unbalanced and inhuman End of Days.
