This Hugh Grant comedy is uneven at best. It has several funny scenes, but they're overcrowded by stupid, overstated slapstick scenes. Tom Arnold, in particular, is more annoying here than he ever was before True Lies gave him the chance to be anything but. A well done beginning and a madcap ending make the middle worth bearing, but once is probably enough.
