Iron Warrior is third of four in the series of Ator films, low budget fantasy flicks that leave a lot to be desired. Its membership in the Ator canon is debatable; although Ator is again played by Miles O'Keeffe, the director is not Joe D'Amato (who did the other three) but Alfonso Brescia, and the tone of the film is quite different. Instead of being plodding and contrived but mostly coherent, Iron Warrior is plodding, contrived, and inscrutable. Brescia seems to prefer pointing his cameras in odd directions and experimenting with grating sound effects to storytelling. Even the unusual sort of people that liked Ator, the Fighting Eagle and The Blade Master are bound to hate this one.
