The definitive horror film, ranking with King Kong as the best from the wave of excellent horror films from the early thirties. Boris Karloff is the Frankenstein monster. Make sure you watch the restored version, which has the "flower petal picking" scene, cut from the original release when it was deemed too intense for audiences of the day. Now, it is not so horrific, but remains a powerful scene that perfectly characterizes the monster's frustration with and incomprehension of the world to which he was brought.
