Atlantis: Milo's Return is like most direct-to-video sequels of Disney's threatrical animated classics: a cheap knock-off to scrape in a few extra bucks. Atlantis: The Lost Empire was a wonderful adventure story that owed much to the uncertain loyalties of the characters and an everpresent palpable sense of danger. All that is gone in Atlantis: Milo's Return, which assembles the goodguys into a generic investigative team and routes them through generic adventure plots. The animation is awful: there is a noticeable lack of detail, and movements are blocky. The three-episode structure of the movie feels like it was edited from three separate episodes of a half-hour television series. Although there isn't any such series, I am almost positive that this is the edited remains of an aborted attempt at one.
