  Whoa there.  Stargate is my biggest personal problem with them.  Perhaps it was my fault, but I got all psyched up expecting a cool (and intelligent) sci-fi movie about the possiblity of having had aliens visit the planet back in ancient Egypt, and also in leaving a gate that traversed the universe.  Instead we got a bunch of lame action and 20 minutes where it seemed like it might be cool.  Maybe I was expecting too much, but still that's how the movie was promoted.

  Exactly.  They make bad big-budget action stuff. The worst thing is I always think they have decent ideas.  ID4 *could* have been great, and much like Stargate starts off very well (the image of the huge towering ships is incredible).  Unfortunately it quickly degenerates.  Universal Soldier is a decent enough idea as well.  And of course we all realize the potential for a "good" Godzilla movie (by good I mean bad-good).
