Okay: MUDs suck. I don't get why people like them, they're just tedious and dull. Here's my average experience with a MUD:

Computer: Choose primary race from these 23 races, all of which are almost identical in practice.

Me: Think I'll be a Dwarf. Oh yeah, this is gonna rock.

Computer: Choose secondary race.

Me: Sweet! Hrm, let's go for some Hobbit blood.

Computer: Well, that's it for me. Go kill some Kobolds.

Me: Okay... [spends 6 hours fighting Kobolds and reaches level 3] Yeah! Level 3! I rule! And I've got 500 GP! Let's go see what I can buy.

Shopkeeper: If you sell your small dagger, you'll have enough money to buy a slightly larger but still small dagger.

Me: Well, it's better than what I've got. Besides, I'm level 3 now! What to do? I'm sick of killing kobolds... [Pages other players] Hey guys, anybody know a good place to do some levelling up? I'm a 3rd level Dwarf/Hobbit and sick of killing Kobolds.

Other Players (most of whom are at level 5000): Go kill some Kobolds. We're going to tackle the big guys.

Me: Well... maybe a bit more Kobold action wouldn't hurt. [Spends another 6 hours killing Kobolds. Is up to level 5]. Allright, this sucks! [Quits to go play something fun]
