There was a line a couple hours before Titanic showed, and this behavior lasted for *weeks*, but that was an anomaly. I expect the same for Star Wars.

Luckily I have friends who both enjoy Star Wars and want to wait until the crowd tapers, so I expect a pleasant viewing experience in a month or two (or three).
